Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships and is responsible for a host of specialist bus services and major infrastructure projects, in conjunction with operating the Glasgow Subway.

Last upgraded in the 1970s, SPT are currently delivering a £300m Subway Modernisation Programme to improve the customer experience and secure this iconic public asset for future generations.

The programme includes modernising stations, upgrading rail and tunnel infrastructure, the introduction of smart ticketing, providing new rolling stock, control systems & signalling and implementing organisational change initiatives within Subway and the wider organisation.

Our programme team is developing and an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and talented Programme Manager to assist in delivering this once in a lifetime, challenging project.

Reporting to the Director of Projects, the post holder will be responsible for the overarching programme management and co-ordination activities related to Subway Modernisation.

The successful candidate must have a significant level of programme and project management experience, with a proven track record of delivery of large scale multidisciplinary projects/programmes, within an operational environment, preferably rail.  The candidate will be customer focussed with a strategic vision for process improvement, and have excellent organisational and time management skills and strong analytical ability. In addition, the candidate must display strong leadership skills and be able to develop and mentor high performing teams.

You will hold a degree level qualification in a relevant project management, engineering or related discipline, with chartered membership of a recognised profession body, relevant to the post.  Managing risk, experience of public sector procurement processes and providing advice on strategic project options are also considered essential requirements of the role.   A post graduate degree in a business, engineering or management discipline is also preferred.

Full Time hours will be 35 hours a week Monday to Friday.   However, the post holder will be required to work additional hours to meet operational demands.
