We are looking to fill a Senior Technician role in the Accident Investigation and Prevention (AIP) Team in the Engineering Services Group. The Safety and Traffic Engineering Division covers structures, street lighting, signs, signals and telematics; accident investigation, safety audit, speed management and casualty reduction schemes; traffic management and calming, utilities inspection and co-ordination of streetworks and traffic data collection.
You will work also proactively with our internal partners to deliver highway improvement schemes ranging from programmes of minor site specific and route safety schemes, and larger town centre development schemes. This role will include assisting with the management and supervision of design consultants and the Council’s term construction contractor as nominated Supervisor (N.E.C.) and coordinating with wider stakeholders such as Members, District and Parish Councils, the Police etc.
You will be responsible for the provision of a professional, high quality service to our customers and the people of West Sussex. In doing so, you will be expected to help deliver the effective operation of the Service by providing professional support, advice and guidance to others across it. This will entail dealing with complex professional and technical issues within the Service area (eg accident analysis and interpretation to help formulate remedial measures) and supporting the maintenance and development of professional practices within the specialist field.
With experience of helping to manage and monitor budgets or projects for a specific service within a specialist technical service you will be expected to be self-motivated but also able to collaborate positively with colleagues to contribute to the long term planning and review of the Service to ensure continuous improvement and business continuity.
You will hold a minimum of 6 GCSEs with A-C passes including Maths and English or equivalent qualification of demonstrable equivalent experience. A Degree or HNC or equivalent qualification is desirable.
