About the Business Line
We provide professional services in areas such as aviation, transit, freight rail, highways and bridges, planning, and ports and marine. Our global network of top-tier specialists delivers comprehensive services over the full life cycle of a project to benefit clients in government and private industries.
Our Transportation team currently have a vacancy for a Senior Traffic Engineer with a particular expertise in road safety engineering and auditing. AECOM are currently expanding their already substantial team in our Newcastle office following several major project wins.
The successful candidate will be recently chartered or working to achieve this status and will have proven experience of working as part of project team to deliver traffic engineering projects to a high standard, on time and within budget. The role would suit a self motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team.
The Newcastle office has an established track record of successfully delivering traffic engineering schemes. Our modern office has multi-disciplinary transportation design and planning capability. We are now looking to enhance and grow this team with individuals with a sound technical background that share our enthusiasm and determination to support our expanding workload.
The team provides a full range of traffic engineering services directly to external Clients and also to other AECOM business lines where their projects have a highway interface.
Our clients are from the private and public sector and include numerous Local Authorities across the North East region. We also have a proven track record of successfully delivering national projects for Transport for London, Transport for Greater Manchester and for several international Clients.
Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local, national and international highway and infrastructure improvements. A selection of our current and recent projects include:
•Production of traffic management plans for venues hosting events for the London2012 Olympic Games including St James’ Park
•Providing road safety advice and undertaking road safety audits for numerous clients across the region and further afield including internationally
•Facilitating transformational urban realm schemes through innovative traffic engineering solutions
•Quality Transport Corridors including priority measures for public transport and active modes
•Detailed traffic signal modelling and design solutions at numerous junctions for clients across the UK, including several within the North East region
The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:
•Undertake / project manage traffic engineering and road safety engineering studies including road safety audits, taking responsibility for the contribution of Assistant Engineers and Technicians as appropriate
•Production of transportation reports, making use of relevant technical software
•Monitoring financial status and progress of projects to ensure delivery on time, to budget and to Client’s satisfaction
•Establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams within AECOM’s transportation division
•Take an active role in work winning, supporting business development activities including the development of Client relationships.
•You will have experience of undertaking a range of traffic engineering related projects, with particular experience of road safety engineering and undertaking road safety audits
•You will have excellent technical and communication skills
•You will be able to demonstrate experience or understanding of Health and Safety including CDM responsibilities
•You will have a flexible approach to supporting project and business development activities across wider AECOM geographies, for example in Mainland Europe, Russia, Middle East and Africa.
•You will have a relevant degree and will be a Chartered Engineer or will be working towards Chartered status with membership of a relevant professional institution.
