DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently develops methods and solutions for engineering design and construction of tunnel works for water infrastructure including deep sewer trunk lines via microtunneling, large diameter tunnels using tunnel boring machines.
Employs wide variety of tunnel engineering methods, applying geotechnical and structural engineering techniques and analysis to deliver design projects.
Selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the various design engineering requirements on medium to large infrastructure related projects or studies.
Assist the PM in further detailing of the PMP into a more comprehensive Project Implementation Plan (PIP), identifying specific procedures that will address the tunneling related requirements of a project.
Assist in preparing a Design Management Plan, employing innovative new engineering methods / techniques / technologies applicable to tunneling works. Proactively implement these Plans in the course of delivery of the project.
Provide technical advice to team members on topics involving wastewater, wastewater treatment plant, sewer trunk lines, deep sewer interceptors via micro-tunneling, deep large diameter sewer tunnels via Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) as required, thereby improving design coordination and interface with other disciplines.
Interface with Geotechnical Engineer and Structural Engineers to review and draw relevant engineering inputs and parameters from Geotechnical Investigation Reports necessary to design tunnel projects in accordance with Client/Project requirements.
Serve as a resource person for in-house training sessions or peer-reviewer along the lines of his technical expertise or in the lines of engineering design project management for tunneling projects involving wastewater, sewer trunk lines, deep sewer interceptors via micro-tunneling, deep large diameter sewer tunnels via Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM).
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related subject from a Major University and preferably with Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering. Must be a Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer or equivalent status.
15 years work experience infrastructure engineering design particularly tunneling networks with progressively increasing responsibility. At least 10 years of recent similar design experience and 7 years as technical lead.
Qualified professional who can lead and coordinate specialized activity, discipline or team of moderate size and complexity. Leads in the formulation of advanced technical concepts.
Provides specialist services in support of project requirements. Independently performs highly complex professional assignments demanding contributions calling for the applications of specialized principles.
Proficient in computer applications for engineering design (CAE/CAD) of tunnel systems.
Highly experienced in the implementation of engineering design and/or construction supervision Quality Management Systems.
Highly experienced technical specialist in water / wastewater / infrastructure capable of providing expert advice on complex technical matters requiring world class expertise especially in deep sewer interceptors / tunnels and wastewater treatment plants.
Working in the Gulf region is preferred.
Excellent spoken and written English is a must.
