The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering and the day to day running of the North West Mini Piling and Underpinning Department. Duties will include; effective tendering, design and estimating, checking drawings, QA administration, client liaison, dealing with day to day technical issues and management of contracts and site operations and ensuring Health and Safety obligations are enforced whilst working in line with the company Quality Assurance procedures. In the absence of the Contracts Manager the successful candidate may be required to attending pre start and progress meetings.
Essentially the role requires someone with, good communication and people management skills and previous experience in a similar role. Candidates will be expected to build a good working relationship with Clients, Colleagues and Sub-contractors whilst managing projects efficiently and safely until completion.
We anticipate that interested parties will either have a Degree/HND/HNC in civil engineering or construction or be qualified through experience. Due to the nature of the role, individuals will require a full driving licence and the flexibility and confidence to travel to off site projects as required.
Ensure all projects are estimated and executed strictly in accordance with the Roger Bullivant policy for Health and Safety whilst maintaining and improving the professional and progressive image of the company.
Develop the business in an active manner through effective marketing and relationship building and identifying new market opportunities.
Preparation of geotechnical and structural designs for piling, underpinning and foundations.
Carry out site visits to check for suitability during tendering process.
Undertake estimating activities, ensuring that estimates are delivered in such a manner that maximises the potential to obtain the order.
Attend meetings with clients.
Speak to clients and offer advice on enquiries and estimates submitted.
Chase through all enquires priced to maximise turnover.
Attend pre tender and site/client visits with Contracts Manager/QS to ensure high standards of customer care.
Produce contract booking forms when order is secured.
Contract set-up and preparation of site paperwork and job packs including ordering materials.
Site supervision and monitoring.
Reporting for weekly figures to Discipline Manager.
Preparation of accounts and applications for payment.
Continual liaison with clients during and after contracts to ensure completed to the highest standard and any chance for dispute minimised.
Ensure compliance with all safety and statutory obligations.
Ensure profit growth through effective tendering and management of the work in the North West.
Ensure that the set budget for the North West Office is achieved / exceeded.
Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety and QA procedures.
Maintain and improve the professional and progressive image of the Company.
Liaison with other members of staff and departments.
Assist in other matters when required.
