My client is a major multidicipline consultancy that are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join their Building Structures team on a permanent basis.
Key responsibilities / duties include:
Liaising with the client, lead engineer and/or other design team members as appropriate to establish a clear definition of the project requirements
Identifying and managing both project and commercial risks in discussion with senior staff
Monitoring, checking and controlling work outputs/costs during the progress of the project and identify and agree any additional work with the lead engineer or client, as appropriate
In discussion with more senior colleagues, manage and/or provide advice and update reports to the client, in relation to the planning, design and supervision of projects
Liaising with third parties involved in projects including, when necessary, the general public to ensure both the clients' and the Practice's interests are safeguarded
Ensuring areas of projects within own responsibility are completed in a timely and cost effective way
Supervising, assisting and mentoring team members as required with regards to both technical and professional development
Assisting with the preparation of bids and other departmental marketing operations
Managing or carry out all of the technical aspects of the projects including reports, drawings, calculations and specifications etc. in accordance with the Practice's PMS procedures
Capabilities and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a positive and enthusiastic team player, who has a relevant degree (BSc, MSc, BEng, MEng etc) or equivalent and will be either a Chartered or Incorporate member of a relevant institution or close to achieving Chartered status.
The ideal candidates:
Proficient in the use of relevant technical software and Microsoft Office Suite
Good project management skills and experience of managing internal briefs
Would preferably be able to demonstrate a broad range of project experience with a variety of client types
Must be proficient in the design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry and timber structures with limited supervision.
Has project experience in using FEA design packages
Experience of using BIM systems would be a distinct advantage
